The bottom line is anyone of the Thoro-Bet's contenders has the ability to
WIN or be a GOOD PAYING SECOND. It is hard for any handicapper to say
a 5 to 1 and above odds should be a number 1 choice. They are long shots
for a reason. Most often my 3rd and 4th choices are long shots who have
a good chance of wining that race, and it is for this reason why they are
my contenders. This is one of the reasons I use four contenders. With your
handicapping skills and good money management you can make a living at

HANDICAPPING?
NO I do not use morning line in my handicapping, I may give a close look to big
long shots of 20-1 and higher as part of the eliminating process out side of that they are
not used to give points as part of the handicapping process. However I did use Morning Line odds
as part of my handicapping in the late 70's. I found that if you handicap not considering MORNING ODDS,
when you are done and if you are not totally out of line with the
morning odds then you can be sure that your handicapping was based on
your own skills not what the track handicapper thinks. This question
came up mostly because now and then my {A} horse is the Morning Line favorite but often you
will see that my picks do not agree with the Morning Line.
DO I HANDICAP USING A JOCKEY?
NO I do not, the reason is most often the Trainer or Jockey do not really
know if their horse is going to win. Every interview you ever heard
by a Jockey or Trainer is "our horse has a chance". When a big long
shot come in they are just as surprised as your are.
